I'm interested in gymnastics for some years now and came to if by watching it on TV. I never did gymnastics by myself (I hated it at school). I'm also not related to any gymnastics club or gymnast. I'm simply fascinated by the elegance the gymnasts show while performing very difficult moves.
Since mid of 1999 I visit tournamens and gymnastics galas in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland. First I tried to take photos
but I had to realize that I couldn't enjoy (or even follow) the meeting while trying to take good photos. So I swapped to video which
worked fairly well.
In 2003 the first digital SLR (Canon EOS 10D) became affordeable for me. Over the years my preference chnaged in taking pictures only.
After using the 10D till End of 2004 I switched to the 20D. In february 2006 I switched to the 1D MKIIN after my 20D broke down
(with about 60000 being taken with it).
After 191.000 pictures the 1D MKIIN showed a strange behaviour. It simply rejects to take photos after a not predictable number of photos.
So in september 2008 I switched to Nikon and currently I'm happy with my Nikon D700.

These are the tournaments I would like to visit in the future. A competition written in italic letters will take place but I don't plan not visit it. |
